2018: A Year Of Expansion

A journey that started with a single bicycle has led to 3,000 bicycles being distributed in Northern Uganda, impacting over 15,000 Ugandans. One thousand of those bicycles were distributed just this year, making BAP's biggest year yet. 2018 has been a year of rapid expansion for BAP on all fronts.

In 2018, BAP expanded our:

BAP has expanded our operations and impact from distributing 200 bicycles every year in 2014 to nearly 1,000 in 2018! Just this year we hit the 3,000 mark for the total number of bikes we have distributed in Northern Uganda. Those bikes are impacting over 15,000 Ugandans.

We are continuing to grow our operations as we look towards the coming year. Our goal for 2019 is to distribute 3,000 loans.

Our impact starts with a bicycle but it doesn’t stop there. Over the past four years, we have seen bicycles be used as an amazing tool for increasing income, providing access to healthcare, and accessing critical resources.

But our model is bigger than just bikes! The true power in our model is our ability to provide access to credit to rural people. We realized that we could take the success we saw with bicycles and apply to other products to create more opportunities for our participants and grow our impact. We’ve expanded our product offering to include more income-generating assets (e.g oxen & plow, grinding machines, motorcycles, etc.) that work to propel people forward.

BAP envisions a world where everyone living in the last mile has the means to thrive, not just survive.

In order to expand our impact across East Africa, BAP is launching new branches across Uganda. In 2018, we launched a new branch in Lira, Uganda!

BAP has been operating out of one branch in Gulu, Uganda for the past four years. In that time we have been able to impact over 15,000 Ugandans. Just this year, BAP distributed 1,000 loans making our biggest year yet. By launching new branches across Uganda, BAP will be able to rapidly grow our impact and expand our reach. BAP is going the distance to reach more people. In 2019, BAP’s goal is to reach 3,000 new customers.

At BAP, we need a strong, sustainable, and resilient team in order to execute our mission. In 2018, we more than doubled our team in Uganda to match our operational growth.

By growing our team, we were able to reach more Ugandans in 2018 than any other year. BAP will continue to grow so that we can achieve our 2019 goal of reaching 3,000 Ugandans!

BAP’s team is dedicated to our mission of transforming the lives of Ugandans by increasing income. Our team is excited and confident about our next steps.

Where We’re Going

BAP is committed to working with more Ugandans: participants that grow with us as we have grown—who we can invest in, year over year, and work to help them and their families increase income. Our goal is to reach 10,000 smallholder farmers over the next three years and to scale nationwide through the addition of new branches across Uganda. We envision a world where everyone has the means to thrive, not just survive.

Our Goals for 2019:
→ Double our impact in 2019 by distributing 3,000 loans to create access and opportunity for more Ugandans

→ Expand our product offering through a new innovations department that will test the impact of new products

Be A Part Of Our Growth

Help us achieve our goals in 2019 by joining our journey! We are asking our supporters to consider giving in increments of a bicycle, at $100.  We’re looking to raise $150,000 by the end of the year in order to scale our operations and grow our impact.
