Introducing the P4P Team: Meet Kaitlin!
Introducing Kaitlin Callahan, a cyclist on this summer’s Pedal for Purpose trip. Kaitlin will be biking from coast to coast, covering over 3,200 miles! We’re so glad she’s along for the ride.
Here’s what she had to say about her upcoming adventure:
What is your favorite thing about your hometown?
My favorite thing about my hometown, Flemington, NJ, is that it is a perfect balance of a country setting with modern conveniences.
The farthest I’ve traveled from home was the summer after my junior year in high school when I traveled to Argentina to participate in a student exchange program.
I am coming on this summer trip to not only accomplish a bucket list goal to cross the country, but to also gain the experience of a lifetime. I will get to meet so many people and see so much of America in one trip, while at the same time raising money and awareness for a cause I strongly believe in-BAP!
I will absolutely bring a camera to capture all of my moments on the road. Some places will be too amazing to simply describe to my family and friends through words, so I will definitely need to take pictures to emphasize the beauty of our nation from coast to coast.
I will definitely miss the convenience of sleeping in a bed every night.
I am looking forward to sight-seeing. Whether that be on the road while biking or later in the day when we have time to tour the cities. I’ve already started a list of places I want to make sure I see while on the trip. I would love to bike down the famous Lombard Street in San Francisco (if that’s even possible and/or legal), see Pacheco State Park, watch a train make its way around the Tehachapi Loop, bike along Route 66, see Katherine’s Landing in Bullhead City, CA, and visit the Grand Canyon. I can’t wait to bike across America! Not necessarily looking forward to the Rockies, but the challenge will make the trip all the more worth while.
